UMAD Scholarship Program 2014

The United Macedonian-Americans of Detroit (UMAD) Scholarship will award two (2) qualified high school or undergraduate university students in the Metro Detroit region and two (2) qualified high school or undergraduate university students from the Republic of Macedonia with $1000 scholarships for full-time undergraduate studies at accredited colleges and universities in either the United States or the Republic of Macedonia.

REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY

  • 500-word essay responding to the question, “What makes you a proud Macedonian orMacedonian- American?”
  • Fill attached application and provide additional documents requested
  • Students of Macedonian decent with min. 3.0 grade point average (GPA) attending high school, university/college
  • Must Provide one (1) copy of most recent transcript from high school or college
  • One recent photo of applicant (may be reprinted on UMAD materials)

*ONLY ONE MEMBER PER IMMEDIATE FAMILY, PER GIVEN ACADEMIC YEAR SELECTION CRITERIA
Compelling nature of their essay
Academic achievements and extracurricular activities to date
Interest in Macedonian subjects and involvement in Macedonian Community

*NO UMAD MEMBER WILL BE A PART OF EVALUATION, 3 ACADEMICS WILL CHOOSE DEADLINE

Recipients will be notified no later than Friday, October 17th and provided an invitation and recognition at UMAD’s ”Proud To Be Macedonian” Gala on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at St. Mary’s Macedonian Cultural Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Winners are expected to attend.
